Chiesa di Santa Marta

Equipped with an adjoining convent, which no longer exists, it was founded in 1342 on the initiative of brother Domenico Cavalca, in order to house the nuns of Misericordia (Mercy). The place of worship, originally parallel to the road, was rebuilt with a different orientation between 1760 and 1767 by Antonio Quarantotto, on the project of the architect Mattia Tarocchi. Bordered by two sturdy corner pilasters supporting the mighty tympanum, it houses the main portal in the center, framed in marble and topped by a curvilinear pediment, and a large rectangular window open in line with the entrance.
